Question for the hive

4.3 LX changed the oil and the "small" vertical oil filter was only half full of oil. Seemed odd to me, as the filter is vertical how would it empty 1/2 out as it did.

Thoughts appreciated.

Next time drive a small nail through it so it will vent.

Gasket up or gasket down is still vertical. Obviously I assumed wrong that your gasket was down. My apologies.

Makes sense, but yes gasket is up. When I replaced it this time, I filled the filter with oil so will see next time when I change it before Winter. Boat seems to run fine, oil pressure is good temp is good so not sure why it was only half full. Weird.
