" Joe....What is the differance between a QL77JC4 and a UL77V other than the electrode...I took your advice on my 1974 70hp Evinrude and used QL77JC4'S and it seemed to run better with the UL77V plugs, at lower speeds.

"Gary..... The "Q" ind

"Gary..... The "Q" indicates a suppressor plug which is designed to help quiet noise/static/interference in any electronic equipment you might have installed. The "77" indicate the heat range. The "C" indicates a copper electrode for long life.

Strange.... the QL77JC4 plugs should have the engine running better at all speeds. I'm assuming that you did set the plug gap to .040 .

" Yes I did...I know what all the numbers and letters mean. I'm not really interested in a suppressor plug, my boat has no electronics. I know the UL77V cost more but are the UL77V plugs supposed to be better performing. What is the advantage, if any, in using them ???

The UL77V plugs really have n

The UL77V plugs really have no heat range to speak of regardless of the 77 rating. They last just about forever but are prone to fouling at low rpms.
