question about a 1987 mercury 20 hp long shaft

just trying to find out if my merc dealer is blowing smoke up my pant leg. i have a manual start 20 hp mercury long shaft, he tells me it is a special heavy duty model with a extra heavy crank shaft. it has a twist shifter (not the side shift) just want to know if the deale knows what he is talking about. he said in 20 years in business it is only the 3rd one he has seen.

that's what i thought. i did notice the lower unit came apart more like a johnson than a merc. which is more common for that year, side shift or handle?
any idea what this motor is worth?
