"I have twin 5.7 270hp with miss-matched Rochester Quadrajets 4MV's, that are in need of some service. From what I have found, model numbers starting with 70 are pre about 1975 and are 650 CFM, ones starting with 170 are after that and are 700 CFM. If i am going to rebuild carbs, I would just a soon have matching carbs, because it will make rebuilding and getting them set the same much easier. So I am wondering if any one has a matched pair of carbs they have no use for, and are willing to part with."

"I have heard that Holly's tend to be a little rougher on the fuel economy, but I have also heard that about Rochester’s also. How do they compare to each other as well as to Edelbrocks? Also what is the min. CFM carb that should be used on a 5.7L?

"We are using Edelbrock 1410's on our 454's and they are so easy to use, setup and rebuild. I have seen them on ebay for $100 or so USED $300 new, and I would buy them all over again in an instant. In an email to Edelbrock I was given a reply that the 1406(or 1409) is for the small block and the 1410 is for the big block. We can get as good as 1 mpg or as bad as .5mpg depending on conditions ...AL"
