Does anyone know if the tab on the gearcase head should point down when installing in bottom unit. The gearcase head is 377187. I can't tell by the diagram.
 
There is a pin (part 23) that the gearcase head fits over to hold it in alignment and proper orientation. Pin should be sticking out about 1/16 to 1/8 inch.
 
That is correct but I am talking about the other end that has the grease seal in it item # 46 on the diagram. It is like a small housing and it has a tab on it that either has to go down into an empty space or it can go up into the top half of the bottom end. Thanks, Kenton.
 
I need to know how item #46 on the diagram for QD-20 Johnson is installed. It's the housing that holds the grease seal. It has a tab that looks like it should go down into the open space. Is that correct? Thanks, Kenton.
