I recently bought this motor and am trying to do some PM work. I noticed the spline grease is extremely dry and tried to remove the prop to lubricate it and find it difficult to remove. I've been told Merc's need a special tool to remove the prop. Is there another way (A wheel puller comes to mind) that this can be done?
Thank you.

I've also pulled them with 3 arm gear pullers (one made by the CH Ina company at your local discount auto parts place cost about 10 bucks - compare that to what Merc wants for a prop puller).

Just have to mind that the gearcase is just aluminum - you don't want to jigger it up if you whacking at things..."
