"Guys need some help I have aquired a VJ150GLEI Johnson 1991 model engine. I had a tech check all the electronics and all is good. Oil injection has been removed and now is mixed in the tank. The boat sat up for a year or two. I took the fuel pump apart yesterday and the diaphrams aren't cracked but it wont stay running by itself I have to spray fuel into the intake, it acts like its starving for fuel. Anyone got some suggestions?????"

Check your fuel lines for any

Check your fuel lines for any cracks or openings. If there are any it can be pulling air in through the lines which will not give you the correct mixture. Fuel lines are known to be brittle and weak. You also may check to see if the fuel lines are clogged or gummed up.

you may also have a air leak around the carb to intake gaskets............spray some carb cleaner around the gaskets and see if it dies out----it it does you have an air leak where ever you sprayed the carb cleaner.

also agree with the above about replacing fuel lines, primer bulb, etc.-----even if the fuel lines arent in real bad shape they are probably original........so new wont hurt.

also try pumping the primer bulb to see if this keeps it running......if so you have fuel pump issues.

what is your compression?

any way you slice it you are having fuel delivery problems."

"Yea I did it according to thi

"Yea I did it according to this post (Great post by the way!) The fuel tank was drained and cleaned and all the fuel lines including the bulb and fitting where it attaches to the engine were replaced. With the inline filter pulled out I can squeez the bulb and get raw fuel to the pump. been doing this by myself, cant turn the key and check for fire too, gonna have some help today and go back to the basics, Compression is within 10% on all cylinders (90 to 93) so thats not it, the other basics are fuel and fire. SOOO I will try try again today!"

"see if u have fuel to carbs,.

"see if u have fuel to carbs,...if not,go into VST--vapor sepeating tank,...there is a float/needle & seat there too."
