Pull start lower lever cracked

I was wondering why the motor wouldn't pull start with the choke on! Turns out this little lever pushes the upper lever lock part into the pull start mechanism and blocks pull starting with the throttle on. With the lower lever 93876 broken, can't use the choke!

No easy way to get this off, does anyone know how to remove this part? Seems like it's held by a pin but no way to unscrew it.

That part is sometimes broken by an owner.----Done in a " fit of rage " when motor is difficult to start.----Remove recoil and see if that can be replaced.----A " new to you motor " ?

LOL probrably at some point, about a year ago it woulnd't let me pull start so I kept fidding with the choke in/out/in/out but never aggressively pulled on it, not that it would break the part. I've been depending on this little guy for years and it's never let me down. I just noticed it hasn't been letting me pull on it with the choke now with the colder weather coming and never realized this was broken until now.

Fingers crossed it's an easy replacement, still boating so won't take it apart until the new part arrives.

So does it have the button on the side to allow you to advance the throttle without going into gear? Basically, exactly as @racerone says, you’ve likely twisted the throttle without pushing the button (which has put it in gear), tried to pull start it and smashed it up, it’s easy enough to replace and get hold of.
