Pull engine to replace oil pan on Mercruiser 74

My mechanic is telling me that

My mechanic is telling me that I need to pull the engine to repace a faulty oil pan on my 2000 Sea Ray with a 7.4. Any other options?

Once you have the drive

Once you have the drive off and the seats and other garbage out of the way, an engine R&R is not difficult.
You do need a good hoist though.
It is much easier to do than your average truck or car.
