"After draining the block and manifolds, pulling all hoses off at their lowest point and draining them I always remove the thermostat housing and pour the block full of 50/50 automotive antifreeze. Is it necessary to fill the hose coming from the top of the exhaust manifold? This would fill the exhaust manifold with antifreeze and help prevent rust through the off season."

You need antifreeze in the exhaust risers and manifolds. Make sure you drain and flush out all the auto antifreeze and dispose of it per local regulations before going to the lake in the spring. Next time consider using the pink or blue antifreeze since it is less toxic.
 
Unless you RUN antifreeze thro

Unless you RUN antifreeze through the motor there will be pockets of water trapped in there that will freeze and crack expensive parts. Seen it happen oh so many times! Why people omit this critical step is beyond me.

This is my first time to winte

This is my first time to winterize my 3.7 merc cruiser.I need to know 'everything' I have to do and basically how to those steps.I've been trying to get someone to winterize it for me but everyone is too busy and the cold weather will soon be here.Appreciate any help from my boat buddies out there!
