Propeller hub length issue. 85 Johnson 90 hp V4

Good evening. I purchased a new propeller for my Johnson 90hp and am having an issue with the interior hub. It was supposedly an OE propeller and has the factory number (765184)and the Evinrude name imprinted on it. It is longer than the existing and the propeller will not go on far enough to allow the nut to fully thread on. The hub seems to be approximately 1/4 inch longer than the existing hub. It also is not as deep in the back of the propeller. In addition, the splined portion of the hub is recessed into the interior of the propeller and the plastic spacer under the hub contacts the casting before it touches the hub. Any ideas? I have photos if anyone thinks it would help. Is it possible the hub was not pressed in fully?

Pictures would be helpful. This prop looks to have an exchangeable hub insert. My first guess is the thrust washer you have on the prop shaft is from a prop that had a pressed hub and it may not be compatible with an exchangeable hub. The new prop should have come with a thrust washer, so if you have that install it and see if that solves your problem.

Take off any old thrust hub that may still be stuck on the taper of the shaft. New thrust hub is the silver disc on that picture. Put it on.
TBH, I don't remember them being different....
Also, be sure you are putting the black insert pointy end 1st. (I don't think it will even go in backwards but on a Mercury prop it almost can).
