Sounds like you must have a ba

Sounds like you must have a barge for a boat.

I believe you are under a few hunderd rpm from max but if you change to a lower pitch prop the engine will rev up higher but you will not gain speed.
The porp will spin faster but will not travel through the water as far on each full turn as the higher pitch prop did.

So the lower pitch must make more turns to travel the same amount through the water as the higher pitch prop did so there goes the extra rpm gained by using a lower pitch.

It is better for the engine to be at the correct max rpm but will do little or nothing for the speed from where you are now.

Try cleaning and painting the bottom of the boat and take half that old gear you never use back home.(not safety equipment).
Good luck.

"Is your motor mounted correct

"Is your motor mounted correctly? With it down, the anti cavitation plate should be even with to about 1" higher the the bottom of the keel."
