50 hp evinrude i made a mark f

50 hp evinrude i made a mark from the nut that holds the prop on down inside the prop took the boat out and they dont line up anymore so i would take that as if my prop is spining causing me the lac of power would it just be because i dont have that nut on tight enough did i do this right with the marks any help or ideas thanks
 
Not sure what year you motor i

Not sure what year you motor is but if it has the rubber centre boss I would suggest you get it changed. The boss is splined to the shaft so the nut doesn't have to be more than finger tight.

i kind of made marks starting

i kind of made marks starting at the nut going across the washer and down thruogh the middle and then made marks on the inside of the prop does that make sense does that make sense its a 1975 50 horse evinrude 50573b
 
so if the prop is spining what

so if the prop is spining what do i need to do to fix it and would that cause me loss of power
