Prop Sizing Confusion Lost in the Ozone

I thought I had it down solidly until I read the PROP SIZING post about 10 down on this list. My wish is to run 4 blade props for better slow speed bite and responsive directional control. I am currently at 18 x 20 #3 cup 3 blade. According to the post if you run over propped and are under WOT...basically it doesn't matter that you can't reach WOT as it really won't hurt the engines.

Is it safe to say that I can run any props that can still reach 3500 to 4000?

"Over-propping is fine ONLY if your boat is NOT under powered! Mine (that tachs out well under 4,000 at WOT) leaps out of the water. I have to warn people "Going up!" so they don't end up on the deck. And this is at half throttle on the primary barrels--don't ever need to crack the secondaries.

Now, if your boat is like mine, go for the 4 bladers (I have 17 x 15 four bladers) and over prop it. But if your boat struggles onto plane at full throttle, then DON'T over prop it. But yours is like mine, then why run the motors in "low gear" and waste gas?
