Prop size for a volvo penta

I am trying to find out the original prop size and if it is left or right for a 1969 chrysler sport fury with a volvo penta engine. It is a 4 cyl. B20-AQ130. I just bought the boat used and need to get a new prop the current one is pretty tore up. But I was told that I needed to make sure to get the correct size or I would tear my engine up. Can anyone help a girl out???? Kinda new to the whole boating experience.

"Teri, welcome to the site. It's more than likely a left hand prop and either a 14x17 or 14x19 prop. But don't guess before you buy.

If you can take off the old prop, you will often find either a part number and/or something like 14x17 or 15x17 stamped on it somewhere, often on the hub. If you can find a 6 digit part number starting with 8, that prop is probably an OEM Volvo prop. The 14x17 designates pitch (14) and diameter (17) in inches of the prop. Also, look for an L or a R, which would indicate that it's either a left-hand or right-hand prop. If you can't find any of these things, the best bet would be to take it to a prop shop and they can tell you what it is and hook you up with a new or reconditioned one."

Thank you so much for the help Bob. I found the size on that prop it is a 14 x 17 and it has an R. So I am going to take your advice and see what a prop shop has to offer. Thank you again have a great day!!
