I am converting my 2001 Glastr

I am converting my 2001 Glastron GS249 5.7 from a Volvo SX to a DP outdrive. My boat is about 25' long and weighs about 5800 lbs wet. Which props would anyone recommend for this? I am looking to have a decent hole shot while keeping my top end speed. Appreciate any suggestions.

"I have a 2006 Larson Cabrio 260. It weighs in at 6400 lbs. It's powered by a 5.7 g.x.i. 320 hp. Specs read out max r.p.m. at 5200. When I got the boat new it came with F-6 duo props. and only maxed at 3900 r.p.m. I complained to Larson and they sent me a new set of F-4 duo props. I now max out at 4900 r.p.m. at 41 m.p.h. The hole shot is good around 6 sec. to plane. I cruse at 3,400 r.p.m.'s going around 27 m.p.h. burning 8 g.p.h. Which is comfortable with a boat at 27 l.o.a.
With your boat I feel that the F-4 duo props a good choice. F-3's would probably get you to high on the r.p.m.'s with your weight and length. Each step up or down on the F series duo props will mean around a 500 r.p.m. change. At a list of $1,400.00 a set you don't want to miss."

"I have a 2001 glastron gs229 with the 5.0 tbi GI motor, the question is wether your carburated, tbi or tpi injected, a gx, a gi or a gxi. if you want an opinion i agree with Byron, you will need a F4, maybe an F3. I run a F4 at 3900 ft turning 4900 rpm, my boat is about 1500 lb lighter, I run a F3 at 6000 ft at 4800rpm (lake powell and flaming george). If you find a prop shop with a few of these F props you may be able to do some trial and error, and as he said at 1400 a shot it can get expensive. Ebay has some deals when you can find them. if ya want to buy a used F3 set,e mail me."

It is a carb. I do most of my boating on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky which is probably about 680 ft. I was thinking F4 but everything I have read makes me think I am right on the edge of using either a F3 or F4. Thought about contacting Glastron and see what they use from the factory. I might be interested in the F3. I will let you know.

"I have a 25 ft Seacraft Seafari, 25.5 degree deadrise, 5.7 Gsi 280 hp, max rpm range 4600-5000. Duoprop, D2 aluminum props.
Loaded for a long trip, it weighs about 5600 lb. and turns 5050 max rpm (at sea level). Loaded light, it will turn 5200. I need more prop.

The volvo book says rpm drops 200-250 with each higher number and go one more number up if going from aluminum to stainless. If that's right, going to an F4 would give me a max rpm loaded heavy of 4800. Does this sound right?

Prop shops in my area say they can take a duoprop up or down one number, i.e. F3 to F4. Any different opinion?
