I found a set of 18x18 brass props the same shaft as my v-drive but wouldnt that increase my rpm or do i need to just have mine refurbished because it is the best for just getting aroun the lake.. "Hummm... Interesting question

"Hummm... Interesting question. My knee jerk reaction is to use lower pitch props (like that 18 pitch) to keep the motors from lugging, but that doesn't seem to be your issue. Seeing you don't plane off, how about this: Go way lower on the pitch and run just one engine. This will save gas and, with a lot lower pitch, the engine will not be damaged. (Alternate engines on the way back.)

We did this at our old marina since there was a 2 mile No Wake Zone. Ran both engines until under way, for easier handling, then shut one down until we cleared the slow zone. I ran the other engine coming back to even out the fuel tanks.

Jeff

PS: If you go this way, consult your tranny manual to see if that's okay. With my Velvet Drives, the dead shaft can turn all day without damaging the tranny."

I found a perfect used set of

I found a perfect used set of 18x18 4 blade props for 350 does those sound good..
Also i gave 15000 for the boat pictured above did I do good???

"$350 for a set of 4 blades, t

"$350 for a set of 4 blades, thats a good deal. You will notice a difference over 3 blades, much more responsive. As for what you paid..let me ask you this..does it put a huge smile on your face every time you step aboard? is your worst day on the boat better than your best day at work?..if you answered yes to either question then price is irrelevant

"Fastjeff's Law of Propell

"Fastjeff's Law of Propellers: An 18 pitch 3 blade equals a 17 pitch 4 blade. (Or, to put it the other way around, those 18 pitch 4 bladers are equivalent to a 19 pitch 3 blader.)

But you got a good deal on both the boat and the props.

Jeff

PS: If it were me, I'd eBay the 4 bladers and get your present props de-pitched (remove pitch) as far as they can go. I'd then run on one engine IF your transmissions allow it (which most do)."

Also those props he said he me

Also those props he said he measured and it was a inch front and inch and 3/16ths in back Would you say that is prob the 1 1/2 shaft or do they make one that size thanks

I measured mine and they are 1

I measured mine and they are 1 inch in the front and looks to be 1 1/4 in the front does that sound right.. So I would say I am 1 14 shaft ??? this is confusing trying to buy blind thanks jason
