Thanks in advance. This messa

Thanks in advance. This messageboard is extremely helpful. I have a 22' crest pontoon boat w/ a '98 Johnson 115. Estimated running weight of the vessel is 4000# (2500# for the vessel 1500# for crew + gear). What pitch prop would be best? Fish / Cruise (no ski)

"Vessel weight and crew/cargo

"Vessel weight and crew/cargo capacities are not a good metric for determining prop sizing. The only way to truly determine the correct prop size is from the tachometer. With your normal load on the boat, your engine should turn around 5500RPM at WOT (Wide Open Throttle).

A decent place for prop setup info I've found is here:

Once you've read that, follow the link to V-4 PROPS: 60-140HP. It seems for Pontoon boats, a common prop size is 14" X 13 pitch. I'm not versed in pontoon props so I really can't give a definitive recommendation (runabouts is where I have my experience). Hopefully these links will help."
