Prop oil seals

New to forum . On my 1979 70 hp Rude ,can I replace the 2 oil seals in the bearing retainer housing without removing the housing ? Model # 70973R

Try it, drill a 1/16 hole on each side of the seal 180 deg apart, WITHOUT touching the propshaft and scratching on a seal surface. Insert self tapping screws in each hole, grab each, back and forth and walk the seal out. Worse that can happen is you can't get them out and then you have to pull the carrier and drive them out.
