"Usually participate here on the Mercruiser forum, but have an OMC Question. My 1986 3.0 Cobra needs prop repair. Boat is nearly 75 miles away. Would like to take right wrench, socket/ratchet without dragging along a complete tool box. Can anybody helpwith size?

A Merc. uses the Same Size Shaft,.... It's a 1,1/16th" on the Merc.s,......
I'd Guess the OMC is the Same....."

Boat is at marina where we also have our houseboat. Fairly complete toolbox stays on HB at all times. Just don't keep large tools there. Will take socket and ratchet just for prop nut when ready to change.

Also have very good homemade prop puller for Mercs. Will it work on OMC? Are these usually stuck in freshwater?

IF the Shaft is Greased before the prop is slid On,.....
None of them Stick..................."

"Thanks to all for help. Had a trailor that would fit, so I decided to bring it home(approx 75 mi.) and buff, wax, shampoo carpet, etc. Get ready for coming season. Bought boat on lift, hasn't had a trailor since it was put in lake in '86.
