I have a 1997 50hp Johnson outboard that I just purchased along with a 16ft. river boat. I've been getting the kinks out of the boat and the motor with help from this forum. Making very good progress. I've had the boat on the water a couple of times and everytime it runs better after doing some minor repairs.
Well, took it out this weekend to a bayou and ended up losing the prop. As unlucky as I was, I had a spare at home along with a splined washer and nut. I put the prop on, then the splined washer then the nut. There is a little play--that is the prop moves a little on the shaft.
1. Does the splined washer go on before or after the prop?
2. If it does go on after, it is normal for a little play?
3. Is there another washer besides the splined washer that goes on the shaft?
Thanks for the help.
