my boat is a 20' baja closed bow 350 v-8 alpha 1 gen 2 mercruiser. my problem it has a 21 pitch stanless prop on it i also trim tabs that helped but still not right, when you stand on the throttle it runs up 2000 rpm then real slow two plane out. real boggy. i found a 18 pitch prop from iboat that is recommend for the alpha 1 gen 2 what do yall thank wanted to ask you guys before i buy it?? thanks alot yall are real helpful!!:)

My 305ci.,chris craft came with a 21 also. Sluggish on take off. Had a 19 pitch spare and put it on under recommendation of this forum. Night and day difference, about 5-10 seconds on plane with very little top end difference because my rpm's are a lot higher.
You will probably find similar results.

Current aluminum merc props are diifernt than the older solid hub ones. My 21footer used a 19 pitch alum.
The new plastic hub i had to go to a 21 pitch.

That being said, when running a stainless steel, you typically go one pitch DOWN.
So if ur boat was using a 19 pitch aluminium u would run a 17 stainless steel.

The key to prop selection for overall usage is max rpm.

So if you use a aluminium prop say 19 pith and are able to achive 4600 or so rpms then you will need to use a 17 stainless.

If i am wrong it is because of all the bud limes consumed today......lol
