The prop " attaches "

The prop " attaches " to the motor but " fits " the boat.A 17" pitch in theory advances 17 inches per turn.A 19" advances 19 inches per turn. The difference in maximum RPM between the 2 props is about 500 RPM. You need a tachometer to fit the prop to the boat.Maximum RPM is 5500. Find MICHGAN PROPS on the web and they will teach you more in detail

"The higher the pitch, as in 1

"The higher the pitch, as in 17, 19, 21, the more speed you can get. If you have the HP, a 21 can really kick it. Most will tell you to stick to the 17 though."

"You can only increase pitch s

"You can only increase pitch so much. Too much and you "lug" the engine which will destroy it in short order.

Think of prop pitch as the gears in your car/truck. You can't drive around in high gear all the time. Deciding the proper pitch is a compromise. Your engine must be able to turn a minimum of 5500 RPM at wide open throttle with a light load. Any less and you are lugging it which will destroy it.

Typically, }each inch in pitch equals about 200 RPM, up or down. More pitch, less RPM and visa versa.}"
