I had to change my prop due to an unfortunate mishap when I brought my boat home last year. My old prop was 13 x 13 not cupped. I bought a used prop 13 x 13 but this is cupped. I sent it out and had it cleaned up and prop scanned. It looks great. My question is a little late but just the same what kind of change will I see in performance going to a cupped prop. With the old prop she turned about 3800 rpm at WOT the spec on the eng is 4000. Will I see any difference at all?

"Cupping; typically, better "bite" in turns, less ventilation, equivalent to more pitch, backing performance a bit worse. Props otherwise equal, you will not see 3800 anymore. You might consider having the prop shop take out an inch of pitch, maybe more."

The prop shop documentation and the owner told me that the actual size of the new prop is 12 3/4 x 13 that's what he got when he scanned it. Maybe with the decrease in size I might not loose any RPMs I can't put her in for another week or so I'll have to wait and see

"I'll take 3,600 rpms in the pool!

At cruising speed you won't see hardly any difference.
