I have a great old 65 V4 60HP that recently has caused some repair issues. The latest is that the toothed gear sitting under the flywheel is spinning freely and no longer driving the band that spins the distributor. I would love to know how to repair and if it is possible to pull the flywheel my self or does it need spe******t help.I really love the old girl but cant afford the repair bills for the latest problem.
Cheers

That distribuor belt pulley is attached to the flywheel with three (3) screws, part number 304606. When you install them, apply a drop of loc-tite to the threads.

You'll need a three hole puller, available at any auto parts store to pull the flywheel. Three bolts screw into the three threaded holes that surround the flywheel nut. Be sure to have the proper threaded bolts! tighten the puller as tight as possible, then belt the puller center spindle with a good size hammer to break the flywheel free.

Be sure to tighten the flywheel nut to factory specifications, otherwise the flywheel woodruff key will shear. Someone here will probably quote the torque specs (it slips my mind at the moment).

If you need timing instrucions (flywheel to distributor), PM me with your email address and I'll get them to you.
