Background: For several years I've had lousy low speed, no wake zone performance with the motors on my dink boat. They would start skipping and loading up, making low speed running a nightmare. I've tried numerous things to cure this, and several different motors, and all without success.
Well, I FINALLY figured it out: The boat is way too low in the water at low speed, forcing water to get into the lower cylinder. (Note how close the powerhead is to the water in the photo.) If I sit way forward, on the front deck, the problem goes away!
Anyone have an idea how I can get around this? The boat is used as a utility now and then, for transporting people and stuff from the big boat to shore, so I need to run at low speeds around anchored boats and in marinas.
Thanks,
Jeff
