"I have a 1985 21 ft.3.7 murcr. 4 cyl. I was come back from a day out at sea and after going through a long no wake zone I accelereted and could not get up over 6 mph..I thought I spun a prop or an engine coupler but when I took the boat out and tried to spin the prop by hand I could not turn it even with a rag and lots of force..The boat ran great all day out at sea and through the no wake zone.Seems to shift fine, thought for sure I somehow spun a prop.."

"If temps are normal try scrib

"If temps are normal try scribing a line in the prop hub and retest, lines dont match, hub is bad.
Overheats, spun coupler"

"hi, when i spun a prop I can

"hi, when i spun a prop I can tell you that I could not spin mine by hand either! Mine would only slip once it went over 3000rpm. Best bet is to take off your prop....you will pretty much straight away if the hub has spun.

Cheers,
Neil"

"De-winterizing boat(final

"De-winterizing boat(finally)but have a problem with the sterndrive. It was stored in the up postion and will not lower. Suspect I need to bleed the hydraulic lines. If that doesn't work any other suggestions? 1988 Welcraft, 5.0L Mercruiser and Alpha Sterndirve.

Thanks."

You should start your own post

You should start your own posting for all to see and get the most responses. Wrong position for storage because it locks in a set position to all the bellows. Place the stern in direct sunlight for several hours to soften the rubber befor lowering. If they are old they will crack on you soon. Are the pump terminals connected to the battery? Short the down solenoid top terminals.
