Primes Solenoid Position

Hi Guys.

Below is a picture of the priming solenoid?? on my 1981 Johnson 90.

I would like to know if anyone can tell me what the correct position of the "switch" is for normal operation?

The "point" of the switch can point towards the rear of the motor or the side. While completing my setups this afternoon the I noticed that it idled a lot higher with the point towards to rear of the motor, while I had to use the Fast Idle at a much higher level when it pointed to the side.

My manual only has information on the choke solenoid which is linked directly to the carbs

Thanks again.

Sure we can tell you.---The red lever is for manual operation of the valve.----For normal operation it should be inline with the valve body.----------Test it , disconnect the small line at the motor end. When key is pushed in and the motor cranking fuel should squirt out.----With engine running normally no fuel should come out.
