I have a 1986 Evinrude 90 HP on an 81 Grady White with a built in 40 gallon tank. I bought the boat last fall and ran it for a month and it worked great. The guy I bought it from owned for the last 25 years but really did not run it much. I stored it for the winter (used Stable in the gas like my other boats) and it started up great last week. After it was in the lake I installed a water fuel separator and I could not get the primer bulb to fill the filter assembly. So I bypassed the filter until I had time to fool with it. I hate the ethanol in boat gas so I like to have a water fuel separator. In the process the fuel line and primer from the hull fitting to the engine was old and the rubber degrading so I replaced it with a new 3/8's fuel line and primer bulb. The boat ran fine yesterday and we used it for about 4 hours for fishing, tubing and skiing. We did notice the primer bulb going flat but it never stalled. Tonight I took it out and after about 30 minutes of fast and slow driving I was running at top end for about 3 to 5 minutes heading home and the engine sputterred, stalled and stopped. The primer bulb was flat. I waited a few minutes and idled home. I assume there is a screen on the end of the fuel tank intake but you know what they say about assuming. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks !
