"I've got a 2005 150hp Mercury outboard w/carbs. We changed out the fuel/water filter, sparks, in-line fuel filter, and the primer bulb w/hose. When we run the engine, the primer bulb caves in. The engine seems to be running fine. What's going on ?"

"Ramon,

"Ramon,

There is a restriction somewhere between the pick up in the tank and the primer.

It could be the anti-siphon valve which is on the tank, if you have one.

The pick up tube could be clogged.

A hose could be collapsed. Fuel hose can have an inner membrane which can become detatched from the outer hose.

The tank vent could be clogged.

This can be a difficult problem to find, but until you solve it your engine is at risk. Running too lean can destroy an engine, especially a V-six.

check the pick-up tube as Tony

check the pick-up tube as Tony says. Could the vent line be kinked if it has one.

On my way to West Marine. I'm going to change out the entire hose. From the tank past the fuel water filter to the primer bulb. While I'm at it I'll just put a new primer bulb and hose. Thanks for all the feed back. You'll here form me soon.
