Pressing OMC pistons on rods.

I am working on a 1980 Evinrude 35HP motor. My manual says I need to use a special jig to press the pistons on the rods or I will distort them. Does anyone have any advise on how to do this without the special jig. I have a press and about every tool known to man already.

Heat !----------Put pin in freezer.--------------Heat the piston and cold pin should slide in.---------Experiment with hot boiling water first.
