Re: powerhead removal
The biggest problem is the 6 bolts that are about a foot long that go through the exhaust housing into the bottom of the powerhead. If it is a saltwater engine, they are usually very corroded and nearly impossible to remove. Heating with a torch, C-4 explosives, lots of cussing are all required. The good news is you have no choice--you cannot replace the crankshaft without removing the powerhead. Be sure to put away all of your breaker bars, and all of you 1/2 drive sockets and ratchets. Have a trusted friend hold onto all of your impact tools too. Despite everything you hear, Liquid wrench, PB Blaster and all of the removal aids are totally worthless. Better off buying a 6 pack with the money. Take it slowly, and good luck!
