I'm working on a '99 Johnson 40hp model J40PLEEA. I found this white wire which leads to the power trim. Can anyone tell me where it connects?
Thanks

Curious..... Where does the other end of that pinned white wire lead to?

Usually, but not always, white oriented wires, plain, faded with gray, containing a different color stripe, whatever, are associated with the PTT gauge.

It goes to the power trim. I don't have a gauge. Does this white wire go to a gauge? Thanks

Okay... That white wire is not actually going to the PTT unit as the only wires that go to that are colored Green & Blue to operate the electric motor. That white wire no doubt leads to the sending unit that would normally operate the gauge (up/dn) needle. So... no danger of anything going wrong. Just tape it up and sit it somewhere out of the way.

On the earlier models.... attached to the top inside portion of the port transom bracket.

On the 1999 model... I don't know as I retired in 1991... BUT... I'm sure another member will jump in here and relay that info.
