I am having a intermit proble

I am having a intermit problem with the power trim not working on my motor - 1987 merc 135hp when trimmimg up only. It will always trim down but trimming up at times it will not work. If it does not trim up I can trim it down a little and then it will trim up. At times I will have to trim it down a few times before it will trim up. Other times it will trim up just fine on the first try. I was thinking it may be a bad connection in the switch. Only problem is I can't seem to figure out how to get at the switch. The control is a single quick silver with the trim control being on the end of the throttle control on the inside. Can someone give me some help?

First, make sure the pt/t unit reservoir is full of fluid. Is it leaking fluid anywhere? Then look under the transom and find the junction box that the wires are hooked to. Pay particular attention to the blue wire as that is the "UP" circuit. Clean all the connections, which includes taking the wires loose. Be careful to connect them back correctly. "

Oops! didn't see the year in the original post.You might have a bad trim solenoid. Can you hear a clicking sound when trying to trim down?

No fluid leaking at all. I was thinking the loose wire might be in the shifter handle but I can't seem to figure how to get that apart to look at it.

I do not hear any clicking when I trim down or up. When it does not trim up it is like there is no signal getting to it at all.
 
Problem solved. It was the t

Problem solved. It was the trim switch that had a busted connection and post on it. Replaced with a new switch and put wires on and it works fine now.

1987 merc 50hp tilt/trim will

1987 merc 50hp tilt/trim will not work up or down it just clicks. worked fine minutes before.have to make some type of repair in water the launch is to shallow
