i have an Alpha one 3.0 lx mercrusier 1994
Tried replacing power trim fluid ( it was a dark tan with pea green tint color) which just didn't look right and not sure if it was ever replaced. I drained the resevouir and then also unscrewed the hose fittings on each side of the stern drive (see pictures) ' I'm surebthis isn't the correct way to do it, got out some fluid, but could still be some left in system that I couldn't get out.
2 questions:
Manual says you can replace with SAE 10w 30 or 40 motor oil, I guess this is true, correct? I guess I would feel safer replacing with power trim fluid.....what are your thoughts/opinion on this.
Second, can I just refill the resevoir , move trim up and down, refill more if needed, or do I need the bleed the system some how. thanks for any info ahead of time.
