Power transmission

I have a 7.4L 454 with an Bravo 1 and as I was getting ready to come back to the marina the boat dropped out of gear while at idle speed. From that point I could not get it to re-engage. The motor reved up but no power to the prop. The throttle feels a little easier to move now so I think that one or the components of my throttle linkage may have let go. Can you guys tell me where to look or if it may be something else? Thanks.

Is the coupler turning the drive shaft? If it is then the problem is in the OD cable connections.
