Anyone ever disconnect it (Alpha One 3p5 Chevy) and run without it? A hose (or ?) is leaking and I want to use the boat before the season ends. Is the steering is unsafe and a bear to work with?

Jeff, many of these "power assist" systems are not using a trim fin/torque tab in lieu of a flat anode (no fin/tab)!
They rely on the assist cylinder to prevent the helmsman from feeling the "steer torque"!

If you were to completely abandon the power assist system, you would want to install and properly adjust a trim fin/torque tab!


If I were you, I would simply repair the power assist system and enjoy what you have.
