Power steering

have a 1988 bayliner capri and

have a 1988 bayliner capri and just put in a new 350 chevrolet engine. now the power steering ins't working any ideas? how can i check the pump? prior to the insrall of engine the power steering was working. any suggestions?

A couple things come to mind.Do you see any fluid leaking anywhere?Did you just move the pump to the side to put the new engine in and if so...look for a pinched line,most likely the non pressure side.If you took the pump off the lines then you may have got some contaminate in the lines causing a blockage.If the system was drained you might have it air locked and need to work it back and forth a few times with the cap lose a bit.I am assuming your pump is turning the same direction as before....correct?"
