Power Steering pump noise

Hull is a 2013 with what I presume to be the original PS pump. Twin 2016 L6 350 Verados. After a short time running, the helm starts making almost a suction noise as if the lines are bleeding air. I never lose smooth steering or operation in the helm, and the reservoir is full of fluid. I will say the pump seems to get abnormally hot, but can’t figure out what’s causing this issue. It’s a pretty noticeable sound while underway. Thanks

Noisy pump is most always air in the system or pump is worn and cavitating

May be a worn pump then, in other hydraulic systems I’ve had, when air gets in the system, the steering gets “choppy” and is no longer fluid. The steering is smooth, just noisy. Thanks
