Power pilot problem

I have a Johnson GT 150 1986 I think. Problem is with power pilot shift/throttle unit, again I think. Was trolling in willows and caught limb that jammed shifter into reverse without releasing lockout. After this my rpm range dropped. Motor won't idle and won't reach full rpm. Did I possibly stretch/ slip/break something in control box? The power pilot is 1979 again, I think. It has key press in choke and top warm up lever I believe is 78 or newer design. I'll firm up some of my info soon. Can anybody confirm possible damage from jamming throttle/ shifter without release? I've had unit off and in half, then thought I better get help.
 
Sorry, I can't conceive of anything that would result from that incident other than a broken lockout. Hm.m.m...was it running when this happened? I suppose you could have broken something inside if it wasn't running and you (the tree) crammed it into gear when the gears were not in a position to mesh. You need to put it back together and see if the throttle and shift go through their full range of travel at the motor (not running). I suppose you know you may need to twirl the prop a bit to allow shifting when not running.
 
Motor was not running. Shifter seems to work as before. On this control box(power pilot)shifter and throttle are the same. Lockout still functions as before, motor shifts fine, just lower rpms at motor. Warmup lever seems to get full rpms as before. Can't keep motor at idle an getting only 4300+\-. There is adjustment at motor for throttle. Can I try to raise rpms there or should I figure I have a problem I need to solve?
