Power pack question for a 1969 115 jonny

"hi everyone heres one for ya,have a 1969 115 jonny with a 1971 power pack on it(4 wire)pack went bad ,ordered a new on for a 1969 jonny and it came with 6 wires.tried to hook it up but coudnt get a spark(dont know if it was hooked up rite do to extra wires)my question is can i order another 1971 power pack and just use that?i never had a problem running the engine with the 71 and it was easy to hook up.any help would be great thanks and great site.......
