"Sounds suspiciously like an ignition issue.
One suspect is ignition coil breaking down after it heats up, but realistically 2 hours of use is a long time.
How about plug wires?
Is your fuel tank vaccuum locking? Is the vent line unrestricted?

I am inclined to go w/the coil failure. I carry a spare. Buy, beg or borrow a coil for the day to see if that cures it.

What does the dist. cap and rotor look like when this happens? Heat expansion of a hairline crack in the cap or the optic sensor under the rotor. If it is heavily rusted it could contribute to your problem but more on a "no start" issue.

Remove, clean and tighten all your ignition 12 volt wires at the coil and the module ground. Check the module connections for tight fit.

Put a timing light on the crank when this occurs and see if you are getting any advance. If not, more likely the amplifier module is failing under a heat condition.

You can get a can of "circuit cooler" at Radio Shack to spray the module with to rapidly cool it and see if it gets back to normal. Spray it liberally to chill it. If it does; new amp. module is $400."
