I have a 75hp Mercury 2001. It is powering a 20' pontoon. the last time I had in the water heading back to dock and trailer it lost at least 2/3 of its power. the engine still ran smooth but it had very little power. I checked all 3 cylinders compression and I checked all 3 coils with a multimeter according to a book I purchased and it's 6 suggested ohm tests. all the testing I did seemed to show all normal with these components. I also checked that I was getting a full flow of fuel by taking the fuel line loose and allowing it to siphon into a container. the bulb was not included in this test. I just need a little info on which way to go and maybe I can take it with the book from there. thanks

I removed the carbs and the jets. they were clean. the 2/3 power loss that I described in the first post is only noticeable at 3/4 to full throttle. before this continual power loss occurred I had noticed before that a pulsing of power loss was noticeable at times during full throttle. I'm not sure if this is connected with the problem I have now. could this be a clogged fuel filter?

"it could be sucking air, try pumping the fuel bulb while at full throttle. WARNING, running the engine with a possible fuel problem can destroy powerhead due to lack of oil."
