"I am having trouble posting 5

"I am having trouble posting 5 pictures. I get a message saying they are to large. Does each pix have to be less than 100kb? I seem to remember posting pics before with no problem, just sizing them down to 640X480
Thanks,
Jay"

"I am in the process of restor

"I am in the process of restoring a 1979 Chris Craft Lancer, and just got the old rotted motor pulled today. The two A frames (2x8) with double 2X12's on the top worked very well, but was miserably difficult to assemble with just me and my son.
The top stands 11' off the ground and is 12' long. Even with that the oil pan cleared the transom only by inches.

What concerns me is the condition of the "snout" on the primary driveshaft housing. About 1/2" is corroded on the bottom, where it is longer. Replacing won't be easy as this is not a Volvo part. As Ricardo E. told me, numerous companies ( in my case Chris Craft) made these to attach to the flywheel cover, and gain some length allowing the motor to sit farther forward. There is 1/2" of metal before the groove, but is was designed for there to be 1" on the bottom.
From end of flywheel cover to the tip of the snout measures approximately 15 1/2".
Any thoughts what to do?

Thanks,

"Jay, here are some thoughts:

1) If you were to save the pictures as JEPG you could get something like this and still under 100 kb (the picture below is 60 kb).

2) I would not worry too much about the missing inch or so. As far as I am concerned, you have two options: build it up with TIG, or leave it the way it is. What I find most important is that the groove for the bellows rib is in good condition.

3) Nice A-frame

. However, I have found that sometimes a case of beer can take you a long way if you know the right people in your neighbourhood.

"I've got to agree with yo

"I've got to agree with you concerning knowing the right people. Someone I know offered his forklift but I would have to meet him somewhere, and if I ran into difficulties I would be tying him up for too long. I am stubborn and like to do things myself!

I just figured out the jpg thing instead of a bmp file. Also,a jpg will appear as picture, not a link to a picture.

The groove is good. I will have to make a desicion here"
