I am new to this forum but have enjoyed some things i have read. I am relatively new to boating and purchased a maxum boat with a 4.3 L v6 chevrolet mercruiser engine. Since i have bought this boat i have had problems. At first i had starting problems (engine would try to crank but would never actually turnover) and took it to a mechanic who said it was a coil problem. We replaced the coil and it fired up and ran fine until we accelerated to above about 30 mph. It has a 4 barrel carburetor on it and it seems as long as i never open it up it is fine. When i do hit the throttle really hard it bogs and eventually dies at which point i cannot crank it. yesterday i took it out and it ran fine as long as we did not full throttle. At the end of the day we decided to try it and it sputtered at around 35 mph and then started sputtering. we took it down to idle and it revved up a couple of times before dying. I know i kinda rambled but if any help would be appreciated.

Unlike a car on a boat you could have someone looking into the carburetor throat( with a flashlight ) as you speed up and see what is happening. Make sure you start it and let it warm up with flame arrestor on first.
