"I have a '90 200 merc 2 s

"I have a '90 200 merc 2 stroke o/b I installed thermostats, poppet valve and impeller. did impeller 2 month befor thermo. poppet it had real strong pee but after i put in thermo. and poppet the pee not that strong. runs great but gets to hot is there some kind of adjustment on poppet should the screw that holds poppet together be adjusted?? and how do i adjust timming?? plugs are correct ones. help Thanks"

Your engine didnt have a stead

Your engine didnt have a steady stream out the tell tail..the engine temp at low revs is controlled by the thermo's and if you had a temp guage you would see it runs upto 3/4 temp then as you apply the throttle towards the half way area the temp drops down to a 1/4 or less because the poppet valve has opened and allows cold water to flow through the engine. The screw that holds the valve is not for adjustment it is ment to be tight

"Jamie, Thanks for your respo

"Jamie, Thanks for your response, had it on the lake and yes at low revs the stream was ok at higher revs in forward stream would be strong but temp would go way up i will replace both temp csrs anything els to look for?"

"Rick, you might have to hook

"Rick, you might have to hook up a pressure gauge on the dash next to the heat gauge because either the poppit valve did not open or the impeller is bad."

The pressure gauge will read ~

The pressure gauge will read ~7 PSI at idle an ~12 PSI and speed. Not 0 or 20. The gauge will peg if the valve does not open. Or will read low if the pump is not moving enough water. The plastic intake grates are on the L/U right?

"on your motor there is a 1/2&

"on your motor there is a 1/2" pipe plug in the top of the motor between the cylinder banks almost under the flywheel.
There should be a 1/2 to 1/8" reducing adaptor in the gauge kit. There may be a hose there already that goes to the poppit valve, than tee into it."
