Mercury 150 V-6 Serial # 1B009782. I need to replace the poppet valve. Engine will not warm up at idle. New thermostats were installed. The manual diagram shows and describes the poppet as being located on the bottom starboard side of the powerhead. Could it actually be located on the top center of the powerhead with the hose running down to a 90degree fitting.

"Joe, no the manual should have it correct. The poppet will not have a hose fitting coming off the cover.

It should be located on the right side of the motor (looking from the back). Not on or near the heads but on the block itself, right at the bottom of the block where it meets the exhaust housing (leg), just slightly behind the point where the upper and lower case meet (they meet over the crank shaft).

If you still have the bottom cowl on, it may be difficult to spot, it is quite burried down the side...

The poppet cover looks like a lop sided 8 laying on it's side (two disks joined together)."
