what are the point setting and

what are the point setting and timing ?btdc also once engine has warmed up it will cut out until it drops rmps. when checking distribor cap and button contact point in distrib and button are blacked over any ideas....i currently have the points set at 18

"Put in another condenser. If that doesn't do it could be a bad coil. When you get it running better, replace the dist cap. When you put on new cap be careful not to mix up the wires. Transfer wires one at a time from old cap"
 
Be sure you use the right roto

Be sure you use the right rotor/ cap combination. Mopar used two entirely different setups for some dopey reason.
