1999 Johnson150 hp, replaced water pump, had O ring(Brown) left over. Do all yr Johnsons have O ring at top of shaft? there was none on mine and saw no grove for one. Used a Johnson Evenrude kit.

If no groove = No O Ring at the top of the shaft. There would be a seal incorporated with that type model just below the bottom main bearing to protect the driveshaft splines.

Kits simply include items used on various models rather than having a thousand different type kits.
