"What plugs do I need for a 1959 Johnson 3 hp and what is the oil/gas ratio? I am going to try to get this running as I was just given this motor (partialy in a coffee can) Thanks, Brian"
 
Mixture is 24/1.... 1 pint of

Mixture is 24/1.... 1 pint of 50/1 TCW-III oil to 6 gallons of gasoline. A octane rating of 87 will be fine.

Use Champion J6C plugs gapped at .030.

My mind was traveling in the 50/1 lane apparently. The 24/1 is one quart of oil.

"Got a '59 Johnson Super Seahorse on a boat that hasn't been out of the garage in 20 years! It and the boat look like new.

Can't find a local outboard mechanic to look at it and see about gettting it running.

I'm in Birmingham, AL.

Anybody got a suggestion?"

"Pam - most marine "techs" weren't born when that was built - so finding someone to look at it will be a chore.

Two options, keep looking/asking or find a manual and pick up a wrench..."
